A Certificate of Destruction (CoD) is issued by Car Disposals is there to record and verify that a vehicle has been disposed of and scrapped in a legally correct and environmentally responsible method. If the vehicle is incorrectly disposed of without the correct de-registration the previous vehicle keeper or owner could be liable for fines under new laws on continuous registration.
We will give you a Certificate of Destruction for your vehicle for free. If you do not receive a CoD for your scrapped vehicle you should write to DVLA Swansea SA99 1BD to notify them that you have scrapped your vehicle and you are no longer legally responsible for it.
